9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Understanding Diversity – Attendees will learn about the following topics:
§ Invisible Diversity: Characteristic that cannot be seen such as disability, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background.
§ Micro-Aggressions: Indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a marginalized group.
§ Cultural Competency: Defined as the ability to understand, appreciate and interact with people from cultures or belief systems different from one's own.
